Children learn to discover in a climbing tree and in this way develop their motor skills and senses. We know how to combine all these things by specifically selecting climbing trees.

Climbing tree - shape and function

Trees which form branches low to the ground with a sturdy continuous stem and develop a wide root package are ideal. We cultivate our climbing trees in such a way that they offer a safe environment. As well as low branches we make it difficult to climb higher in them than about three metres. We do this by creating a closed impenetrable crown.

Just plant and climb!

Just plant and climb!

Research shows that climbing in trees is good for children’s self-confidence and independence. However, it takes years to transform an existing tree into a climbing tree; and by no means all trees are suitable for this. A ready-made climbing tree, which can be immediately climbed after planting with underground anchoring, offers a solution.

Superior play equipment

Superior play equipment

Trees which can be climbed shortly after planting are usually older trees. That seems to be an enormous investment, but compared to the alternative – play equipment – it is not a big deal. Play equipment generally costs three times as much as climbing trees; partly because play equipment has to be tested annually and requires a secure foundation. By allowing children to play in the foliage, they learn about nature and they get the freedom to discover plants. Young people when playing find that ‘Climbing trees are nicer than tablets’.

Favourites

Favourite climbing trees are Platanus x hispanica (Plane), Carpinus betulus (European hornbeam) and Pterocarya fraxinifolia (Caucasian walnut).
