Amelanchier arborea 'Robin Hill'

Amelanchier arborea 'Robin Hill'

Robin Hill downy serviceberry, Robin Hill juneberry

Description

Amelanchier arborea 'Robin Hill' (Robin Hill downy serviceberry) is a tree-forming Amelanchier with a height between 5 and 8 metres and a beautiful, even, ovoid crown. ‘Robin Hill’ was introduced by the Robin Hill Arboretum in Lyndonville, New York in 1970.

The tree blooms rich with light-pink to white flowers in April, right before its leaves sprout. Amelanchier arborea 'Robin Hill' bears little fruit, but does have gorgeous autumn colours that go from yellow to orange and red.

The Robin Hill downy serviceberry thrives in moist, slightly acidic, nutrient-rich soil. The tree will tolerate some shade, but for the richest blooms, direct sunlight is preferable. As a standard tree, the Robin Hill with its growth habit and limited fruit production is suitable for (narrow) streets, squares and car parks with a large drip line. As a multi-stem tree, it will be an eye-catcher in gardens and parks.
