Tax Offices Geldern

Tax Offices Geldern

In the German city of Geldern, the Tax Office and police service both received new accommodation in a shared new-build project. In terms of urban planning, the project was completed in total harmony with the environment, through a balanced composition of two simple, rectangular buildings which are subtly linked to each other, determining the entrances of both. For the design of the outside space at the project, the principle was: less is more. Umbrella-shaped, multi-stem Gleditsia triacanthos ‘Green Glory’ were chosen to create a natural character within the interplay of straight lines. Alongside the tax offices is a water feature, where multi-stem Acer campestre invite users to relax.

The eye-catching multi-stem Gleditsia triacanthos ‘Green Glory’ has light-green leaves in the spring and therefore fits perfectly with the pale yellow façade elements of the tax offices. The feathered leaves of the Gleditsia underline the desired effect and cast a light shadow on the building during the summer. The Acer campestre on the banks of the water feature are impressive, robust trees with artistic forms, which have good tolerance to dryness and other (weather) conditions.
